The struggle is real

I love learning new things. I love studying. I love homework and the smell of freshly sharpened pencils. I also love accomplishing things and checking them off my to-do list. That’s why I’m struggling with one of the assignments Judith Hanson Lasater gifted us students at Relax and Renew Training.

  • Our mission (should we choose to accept it): Take 1 thing off your calendar each week for a month.
    • Week 1 thing: Restorative Yoga Club weekly email
    • Weeks 2 – 4 things: I don't know!?

Judith writes “One of the greatest lacks in our life is, paradoxically, ‘nothing’. We rarely take time to just be, to rest, to feel silence, to hear our deepest heart’s longing. We are just too busy, too occupied, too distracted, too over-scheduled. We try so many strategies: new calendars, to-do lists, New Year’s resolutions, endless promises to ourselves to do less. But we don’t.”

As I learned last week, the world didn’t end because I took something off my to-do list without completing it. You don’t hate me because I didn’t send out the RYC email for the first time in 36 weeks. Maybe the homework is the thing I don't do this week. Now that’s some “Advanced” Yoga!

What about you? Take a look at your calendar for the next month. Is there something you can remove?
